PCLG opens the doors to all who wish to worship in God’s House. A PCLG ambassador, wearing a red ribbon, greets our visitors each Sunday at the front door. Sign our guest book, receive a name tag, and meet some of our Congregation. Families will be escorted to the nursery or Childrens Ministries wing. After the service, join with us for coffee and fellowship in The Social Hall or outdoors in our garden courtyard.Why? We take serious the words of Jesus: "For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." (Matthew 18:20) We also believe that when we connect with others and have personal relationships it is easier to grow together, to tackle the most difficult issues in our lives, and to celebrate our joys. Community is sustaining. Some describe our faith like this: when we are growing in faith we are like new charcoal placed in a fire, it soon becomes engulfed when surrounded by the burning coals of others; but when taken away from the other coals, the new charcoal burns and glimmers for a brief time before it cools and eventually goes out. We need one another and God intends for us to be in community - and God meets us there!
How does community look at PCLG? We admit, it is a little confusing! Throughout the years, our different groups have had a variety of structures and names, but common among them is a long-standing desire to be connected to one another. We have fellowship groups, covenant groups, small groups, Bible study groups, and other less-formal gatherings. Some of our groups have creative names, and others are quite straightforward in description. But our connectedness is also present in committee meetings where we work together to serve the church, during church work days where we gather to tend to our campus, and through serving in various ministries at PCLG. Common in all of these opportunities is the gathering together of people in God's name.
How can someone new get connected? There are many ways, but we realize it isn't easy! And we are here to help. There is a group for you and there are people at PCLG who are ready to connect with you. Perhaps it is a women's fellowship group on Wednesday mornings, or maybe a Bible study on Sunday morning, or a group of men who work each week to keep up the maintenance at the church.
Continuing your journey of faith.
Those who wish to become members of this community of faith (and thereby members of the Presbyterian Church (USA)) are invited to attend new members inquirer’s classes. New Member meetings, comprised of three classes each, are held in the Fall and the Spring. These sessions are designed to allow us to get to know each other better as we take a spiritual journey exploring our faith, PCLG, our mission and the Presbyterian beliefs and organization. You are received into membership on confirmation of the Session by responding four significant questions:
Who is your Lord and Savior?
Do you trust him?
Do you intend to be his disciple, to obey his word , and to show his love?
Will you be a faithful member of this congregation, giving of yourself in every way, and will you seek the fellowship of the church wherever you may be?
