PCLG 2021 Women’s Retreat, Oct. 15-17

What You Should Know Before You Go

Where is the retreat? It’s at The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos, about a half-hour drive from PCLG. Its address is 300 Manresa Way, Los Altos 94022; its phone number is (650) 917-4047.

What is The Jesuit Center like? Nestled on 38 acres up in the hills, the center is a peaceful place, with lovely views, gardens and walking trails. It encourages a quiet, contemplative atmosphere outside on its grounds. Another group will be holding a silent retreat while we’re there, and the center asks that we talk quietly when we’re near those retreatants. It also asks that we not use cell phones out on the grounds.

What should we bring? Face mask (required), Bible, comfortable clothes, walking shoes, sweater or jacket, toiletries, water bottle, small snacks, flashlight, blanket or lawn chair for sitting outside, and possibly a yoga mat, sunscreen and hat. You may bring wine, but smoking and fires are prohibited so please don’t bring candles or incense.

What are the sleeping accommodations? Bedrooms are single and double occupancy, with private bathrooms. All retreatants will be given the option of staying in a single room at no extra charge. Linens are provided.

When and where do we check in? Retreat check-in is Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. on the patio outside the Bellarmine Room. Drive up the hill and park in Parking Area D near Bellarmine. An informal welcome and orientation session is in Bellarmine at 6, followed by dinner in the Dining Room at 7. For the times of other sessions and activities, see the retreat schedule.

Can we come for only Saturday? We welcome women who can join us for Saturday only. Our morning all-group session starts at 10 in the Bellarmine Room, at the top of the hill.

How much does the retreat cost?  The fee for the full weekend is $320, which includes five meals. The Saturday-only charge, which includes lunch, is $100; you may select and pay extra for the 9 a.m. breakfast and/or the 7 p.m. dinner when you register.

Is there any financial aid? A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available. For information, email Pastor Erica Rader at erica.rader@pclg.org.

What about Covid-19? All retreatants must wear face masks at indoor gatherings (except when eating or drinking). All must also sign an attestation that they are fully vaccinated on the registration form. Should an increase in area Covid cases force the cancellation of the retreat, you will be notified and receive a full refund.

How do we register and when is the deadline? A registration table will be set up during coffee hour after worship service each Sunday from Aug. 29 through Sept. 26. You may also register and pay online, or in the church office Wednesday through Friday. We must receive your signed registration form and payment by Sept. 26. To register online, click here.

What if we have questions or need online help? Contact our church administrator, Lisa McKibbin, at lisa.mckibbin@pclg.org, (408) 356-6156.
