Kindness Visitation Minstry

Copy of kindness .png

Jesus said “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.”  John 13:34

Are you feeling called to extend the kindness of our church community to others needing a reminder of God’s love?  Kindness Visitation is a ministry of care provided through intentional visitation. We will coordinate visits to church members who need connection and encouragement. The ministry is overseen by Julie Lasher and our  pastors. Visitors will receive training, resources and support.  Visitors will receive periodic continuing education, resources and support.  Visitors will be matched with visit recipients and will confirm their availability for 2-3 visits per month. Register here for our February 15, 2025 9-11 am training session.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What if I am travelling or have unexpected time demands or conflicts arise?

You can decline the match or contact the leaders to advise that your availability has changed.

What if I encounter someone has needs that I am concerned about?

You can refer any issues or questions to deacons or pastors, as needed.

How is this different from Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is a confidential one-on-one relationship focused on a care receiver’s concerns about loss or transition, often lasting a year or so.  Stephen Ministers received 50 hours of training to equip them for this role.

How is this different from Deacon Ministry?

Deacons often visit flock members and if desired, coordinate meals or bring prayer shawls. We imagine there may be some people who would benefit from both a deacon connection and a visitor and we will work with deacons to identify those who would appreciate visits.

Is this a confidential ministry?

We seek mature believers who will treat their visitors with respect regarding personal details, including consent about prayer requests being disseminated, but the leadership team will know the names of the visitors.

What are the requirements for a visitor?

Visitors need to be  members or attendees of our church, growing in their faith and able to be a caring connection to others in our church community.

What are the requirements for a participant?

The person receiving a visit should be a member or regular attendee as this designed to be a connection into our church community.
