We seek to reach out to all people, ministering to their needs and inviting them into an active relationship with Jesus Christ. The PCLG MIssion Committee prayerfully serves the congregation by allocating PCLG mission funds, informing members and friends about missionaries we support, local and global mission opportunities, mission trips, and disaster relief efforts, and providing opportunities for members to serve God both in the local community and globally. The Mission Committee usually meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. To join our ministry or to get more information on our activities, click on the links below or contact Mission elders Martha Wills and Peggy Heath.

  In Our Community

Below are some of the ways our church reaches out to help those in need right here in the San Jose area—by helping to provide housing for refugees and the homeless, collecting food, donating household items, helping to build houses, sorting clothing and more.

Immanuel House

The Presbytery’s refugee house opened in 2015 and has since served more than 80 refugees in transition. Up to 12 men are in residence at one time, assisted by an on-site manager. For more information, visit Our partners in this ministry are  the International Rescue Committee and Jewish Family  Services of Silicon Valley

Martha’s Kitchen

On a monthly basis Martha’s Kitchen provides

100,000 meals and distributes 175,000 pounds of groceries each month. While San Jose has been their home for over 40 years, they feel called to provide food security to as many communities as they can. Volunteers from PCLG help package and serve hot meals for local residents once a month. Check the Wednesday email or Sunday bulletin for dates and times.

Bridge Communities

Bridge Communities exists to connect neighbors, support leaders, and empower self-achievement within the Mayfair community of East San Jose. PCLG Donates financial assistance to support the programs and the ministry of Annabel Leyva.

Around the World

Presbyterian Mission

PCLG supports the work of mission co-workers around the world. PCLG also supports Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, a mission partner of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Since 2001, our PCLG youth, college students, and numerous adult advisors have built numerous homes in Mexico through Amor Ministries. As Christians we are all called to discover new ways to put our faith into action. Our goal at PCLG is to help you on your journey–and for us to do it together. In February, our high school group takes a team, and in June, this mission  project is open to the whole PCLG church community. What a great way to put your faith into action.

Helping Hands of South Sudan

Helping Hands allows refugee children to attend schools in Uganda and South Sudan. It provides scholarships, room and board, school supplies and uniforms for these students. Helping Hands for South Sudan was founded by a Sudanese refugee and PCLG member, Gabriel Nyok. For more information, please visit their website.

Alwa Learning Center

The Alwa Learning Center is a community-based group located in Uganda whose focus is to enhance literacy one child at a time. PCLG has donated books, computers, solar panels and a well to enhance the learning experience for the students.

The Medical Benevolence Foundation

The Medical Benevolence Foundation, a medical mission partner of the Presbyterian Church (USA) since 1963, and PCLG since 1983, strives for medical excellence by promoting health through the physical presence of medical mission co-workers. MBF focuses on the clinical training of medical professionals in impoverished communities in Malawi, Congo, Kenya and Haiti.

Mark Stoscher

Mark Stoscher has been a missionary in Albania with Alongside Ministries International since 1994. A former Youth Pastor at PCLG, Mark is the pastor of the Erseka Evangelical Church and Director of Torchbearers-Albania. During the school year his ministry hosts and directs a Bible School for Albanian and international students, and in the summer they lead camping programs which draw hundreds of Albanian young people.

Near East School of Theology

The Near East School of Theology is an interconfessional Protestant seminary in Beirut, Lebanon. It is one of few places where Middle East Christians can send their young people to become pastors. The primary purpose of the school is to train pastors and church workers for ministry in the churches and other evangelical organizations in the Middle East.

Special Offerings

The church-wide Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are a collective witness to Jesus Christ's love for the whole church. PCLG supports One Great Hour of SharingPeace & Global Witness Offering, and the Christmas Joy Offering.

Over the years these offerings have provided ways for individuals and congregations to join together with each other and in partnership with other Christians in responding to a variety of concerns.
